Using Magic Edit to refine your Notes

Need Blueprint to rewrite a Note? No problem with Magic Edit!

Updated over a month ago

Did your Note generate but it needs a few tweaks? Prompt Blueprint to regenerate the Note according to your needs with Magic Edit!

In this article we'll review:

What is Magic Edit?

Magic Edit is a powerful tool within Blueprint that allows you to easily refine your session Notes.

If the initial Note doesn’t meet your expectations, you can provide specific feedback or instruction (like "make the subjective section longer" or "add more client quotes") and Blueprint will automatically re-generate the Note based on your instructions.

Magic Edit saves time by allowing you to adjust the content without manually editing the Note, leading to a final Note that aligns your needs as much as possible.

How to use Magic Edit

  1. After the Note has been generated, click the Magic Edit button in the lower-right corner of the Note

  2. In the side panel, enter instructions according to the changes you'd like to see

  3. As an optional step, you could also customize your Note Preferences by clicking the Go to settings link in the Note Preferences highlight

  4. Click the Generate new note button and that's it -- a new version of the Note will be generated! 🎉

💡 Magic Edits do not count towards your Note usage, so feel free to use it whenever necessary to fine tune your Notes.

Common uses

We encourage you to use Magic Edit however you need, but here are some common ways clinicians are using Magic Edit to refine their Notes:

  • To add more content

    • "Make subjective section longer"

    • "Add more objective content"

    • "Add more interventions"

  • To remove information

    • "Remove mention of telehealth"

    • "Remove risk assessment"

    • "Remove names"

  • To change verbiage

    • "Change 'client' to '[name]'"

    • "Change patient to 'pt'"

    • "Change specific terms like 'history' to 'hx'"

  • To alter interventions

    • "Be more specific with interventions used"

    • "Mention other interventions than just CBT"

    • "Add strengths and growth to the assessment"

A Magic Edit Example

In this example, you can see the Note references a CBT treatment approach in the "Plan" section of the Note:

Let's say you'd like to use an EMDR treatment approach instead of CBT with this client. You could use Magic Edit to quickly prompt Blueprint to make these changes:

Blueprint then automatically generates a new version of the Note with an EMDR approach in the "Plan" instead of CBT:

Other ways to customize Notes

Aside from Magic Edit, you can also set your personal Note Preferences.

Unlike Magic Edit, Note Preferences can be saved and applied to all of your future Notes, whereas Magic Edit only applies to the single Note you're viewing.

Notes are auto-generated using AI and should always be reviewed and, if needed, edited for accuracy before saving to the client’s record in your EHR.
