How to Record Telehealth Sessions using Blueprint's Built-in Telehealth Feature

Using Blueprint’s built-in telehealth platform? Here’s how to ensure great audio is capture for a perfect Progress Note!

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you’re looking for the simplest way to record your telehealth sessions, Blueprint’s built-in telehealth feature is your best bet.

There’s no need to juggle Zoom links, browser tabs, or extra audio sharing permissions -- you're just ready to go.

Audio is recorded automatically during your session so you can focus on the conversation while Blueprint takes care of the rest. It’s the most seamless way to ensure your session is captured clearly and turned into a note with fewer steps and fewer things to manage.

Before We Begin

This guide is for when you’re using Blueprint’s own telehealth feature (not a third-party tool like Zoom or Doxy).

💡 If you’re using a third-party telehealth tool such as Zoom, Doxy, SimplePractice, etc, check out this guide instead: How to Record Third-Party Telehealth Sessions with Blueprint (Zoom, Doxy, SimplePractce, etc)

Why Use Blueprint’s Built-in Telehealth?

When you use Blueprint’s own telehealth platform, everything is built to work together -- all within Blueprint. Audio is captured automatically, without having to manage outside links, separate telehealth apps, or enable additional recording permissions.

Compared to third-party tools like Zoom or Doxy, the built-in option is faster to set up, simpler to manage, and less prone to issues. It’s the most streamlined way to ensure your sessions are recorded clearly and securely.

How to Host (and Record) a Telehealth Session With Blueprint's Built-in Telehealth Platform, Step-by-Step!

1️⃣ Open Blueprint and select the client to begin

  • Open Google Chrome and login to Blueprint

  • Click 'Start Video Session' in the upper-right corner

  • Select the client for the session

2️⃣ Enable your camera if prompted

  • A pop-up from Chrome asking for camera access may appear. If so, select 'Allow while visiting this site' to give Blueprint access to your camera and avoid the pop-up during future sessions.

3️⃣ Confirm audio and video preferences

  • Select your camera, microphone, and speakers in the drop-downs.

  • Play a test sound to check your speakers/headphones.

  • Speak out loud to check the microphone audio indicator.

4️⃣ Join the telehealth session

  • Click the 'I'm All Set' button to enter the telehealth waiting room

5️⃣ Admit the client into the session when you're ready

  • Feel free to review the Assist insights before admitting your client into the session

  • When you're ready to let your client into the session, click the 'People' icon in the lower-right corner, then click 'Admit' next to the client's name. The client will immediately be admitted and the recording will start automatically.

  • You can now conduct your telehealth session!

💡 Need to send your client a link to join the session?

Click the "People" icon in the lower-right corner, then copy the telehealth link. Feel free to paste it into an email or text to your client. (Currently it's not possible to send links or any other messages to your client directly within Blueprint.)

6️⃣ End Session and Generate Note

  • When your session is over, click the 'End Session' button.

  • Select the Session Type, Note Type, and Treatment Approach from the drop-downs.

  • Click 'Generate Note'.

7️⃣ Copy the Progress Note sections and paste into your EHR

  • Review the Progress Note for accuracy and make changes if needed by using Magic Edit or by manually editing the text directly within the various sections.

  • One section at a time, click the "Copy" button, then navigate to your EHR (or wherever you need the text to go) and paste the text (CMD+V on Mac, CTRL+V on Windows)

Cautionary Notes

  • Ensure all audio and video devices are functioning before starting the session.

  • If you pause the recording (using the "stop" icon in the upper-left corner), be sure to resume it when you're ready -- just because video and audio are enabled doesn't mean they're being recorded. The green indicator in the upper-left will be green and bouncy if Blueprint is recording the session.
