To record your third-party telehealth session with Blueprint on a Windows computer, follow the steps below.
In Step 1, you’ll choose how you’d like to share your client’s audio for the best recording quality. In Step 2, you’ll learn how to start the actual recording.
Step 1: Choose how to share your client's voice with Blueprint
💡 For Windows users, we recommend using High-Quality Audio for the clearest Transcripts and most accurate Progress Notes.
The quality of your Progress Notes depends on how Blueprint can access your client’s voice during the session. You can share audio in one of two ways: High-Quality or Reduced-Quality.
When you choose to capture High-Quality Audio, Blueprint captures your client’s voice directly from the telehealth meeting itself resulting in clearer Transcripts and more accurate Progress Notes. With this method, you can use headphones if you'd like.
When you choose to capture Reduced-Quality Audio, Blueprint picks up your client's voice through your microphone as it plays through your speakers computer speakers. Because the same microphone is used for your voice and your client's voice, they may blend together and lead to less accurate Progress Notes. With this method, you cannot use headphones during your session.
Step 2: Record Your Session
Once you’ve chosen how to share your client’s voice with Blueprint, you’re ready to start recording. The steps are slightly different depending on which setup you’re using. Follow the instructions below for your setup.
Option A: High-Quality
✅ High-quality audio capture
✅ More accurate Transcripts + Progress Notes
✅ Headphones ok
This is the recommended setup for Windows users, giving you the clearest Transcripts and most accurate Progress Notes.
First, start your telehealth meeting from your telehealth platform, even if your client hasn’t joined yet or you want to keep them in the waiting room for now.
Then, back in Blueprint, click "Record Session Audio" from your Sessions Dashboard
Select an existing client or add a new one
Select your recording options, leaving the "High Quality Audio" checked, then click "Share telehealth audio + begin recording"
Your internet browser will now present you with a pop-up asking if you’d like to share audio (your client’s voice) with Blueprint (clinician.blueprint.ai) -- this is great, your web browser is looking out for your privacy!
Within this pop-up, be sure to select the correct options, then click "Share"
Select the correct “Entire Screen” to share with Blueprint
You must select the screen that has your telehealth meeting in it -- this is how you tell your web browser which screen your client's voice is coming from. Even if you have just one screen, your browser will require that you select it now.Avoid sharing a “Window", which will not work on Windows computers -- even if it appears as an available option. Sharing the telehealth "Tab" is technically an option for those with a Windows computer but this leaves room for error. For the best audio capture, share the "Entire Screen".
Toggle on “Share System Audio”
Make sure the “Share System Audio” option is toggled on. (It's the small toggle in the lower-right corner of the pop-up -- it's easy to miss!)
That's it! 🎉 You're now ready to go back to your telehealth meeting and conduct your session.
Option B: Reduced-Quality
⚠️ Reduced-quality audio capture
⚠️ Less accurate Transcripts + Progress Notes
❌ Headphones not allowed
If you prefer to skip the browser’s audio confirmation pop-up, you can use the Reduced-Quality Audio option. However, this setup captures both voices through with the same microphone and may reduce Transcript and Progress Note accuracy.
It's also worth mentioning that some microphones have an echo-cancellation feature that can mistake your client’s voice for an echo or background noise. This may cause their voice to drop out in the recording. To avoid this, we highly recommend using the High-Quality Audio option instead.
First, start your telehealth meeting, even if your client hasn’t joined yet or you want to keep them in the waiting room for now.
Then, back in Blueprint, click "Record Session Audio" from your Sessions Dashboard
Select an existing client or add a new one
Select your recording options. You must select "Not using headphones" since headphones do not work with the Reduced-Quality setup.
Click "Start Recording"
That's it! 🎉 You're now ready to go back to your telehealth meeting and conduct your session.
⚠️ Reminder: This setup captures both voices from one audio input (your mic) and may reduce Transcript accuracy. For best results, use the high-quality recording option instead.
FAQ
Can I use headphones while recording?
Can I use headphones while recording?
Yes but only with the High-Quality Audio option. The Reduced-Quality setup requires that your client’s voice plays through your computer speakers, so headphones won’t work in that scenario.
