To record your third-party telehealth session with Blueprint on a Mac computer, follow the steps below.
In Step 1, you’ll choose where to run your meeting for the best audio quality, either in a web browser or a desktop app. In Step 2, you'll learn how to start the actual recording.
Step 1: Choose where to run your telehealth meeting
💡 For Mac users, we recommend running your telehealth meeting within a web browser for the most accurate Progress Notes.
The quality of your Progress Notes depends on where your telehealth meeting runs, either within your web browser (where Blueprint also runs!) or within it's own separate desktop app. This matters because it determines how well Blueprint can access your client’s voice.
When your meeting runs in a web browser, Blueprint can capture your client’s voice directly from the meeting itself, resulting in clearer Transcripts and more accurate Progress Notes. With this method, you can use headphones if you'd like.
When your meeting runs in its own separate desktop app, however, Blueprint can’t access your client’s voice directly from the meeting. Instead, it must use your microphone to pick up your client’s voice as it plays out loud through your speakers. Because the same microphone is being used for both you and your client, your voices may blend together, lowering the overall recording quality and leading to less accurate Transcripts and Progress Notes. With this method, you cannot use headphones during your session.
Step 2: Record Your Session
Once you’ve chosen where to run your telehealth meeting, you’re ready to start recording. The steps are slightly different depending on whether your meeting is running in a web browser or in a desktop app. Follow the instructions below for your setup.
Option A: Your telehealth meeting will run within a web browser
✅ High-quality audio capture
✅ More accurate Transcripts + Progress Notes
✅ Headphones ok
This is the recommended setup for Mac users, giving you the most accurate Transcripts and Progress Notes. Plus, because your telehealth meeting is running in a web browser (just like Blueprint), you have the option to use headphones and still give Blueprint access to your client's voice.
First, start your telehealth meeting from your telehealth platform, even if your client hasn’t joined yet or you want to keep them in the waiting room for now.
Then, back in Blueprint, click "Record Session Audio" from your Sessions Dashboard
Select an existing client or add a new one
Select your recording options (make sure to select the "Web Browser" option in the fourth drop-down) then click "Share telehealth audio + begin recording"
Your internet browser will now present you with a pop-up asking if you’d like to share audio (your client’s voice) with Blueprint (clinician.blueprint.ai) -- this is great, your web browser is looking out for your privacy!
Within this pop-up, be sure to select the correct options, then click "Share"Select the correct “Tab” to share with Blueprint
You must select the browser tab that has your telehealth meeting in it. This is how you tell your web browser which tab your client's voice is coming from.Avoid sharing the “Window” or “Entire Screen” as those options won’t work on Windows computers -- even if it appears as an available option.
Toggle on “Also Share Tab Audio”
Make sure that the “Also Share Tab Audio” option is toggled on. (It's the small toggle in the lower-right corner of the pop-up -- it's easy to miss!)
That's it! 🎉 You're now ready to go back to your telehealth meeting and conduct your session.
Option B: Your telehealth meeting will run in it's own desktop app
⚠️ Reduced-quality
⚠️ Less accurate Transcripts + Progress Notes
❌ Headphones not allowed
If you prefer to use the installed version of Zoom, Meet, or other desktop apps, follow these steps:
First, start your telehealth meeting, even if your client hasn’t joined yet or you want to keep them in the waiting room for now.
Then, back in Blueprint, click "Record Session Audio" from your Sessions Dashboard
Select an existing client or add a new one
Select your recording options. For this Reduced-Quality setup, make sure to select the following:
Select Not using headphones
Select Desktop App
Click "Start Recording"
That's it! 🎉 You're now ready to go back to your telehealth meeting and conduct your session.
⚠️ Reminder: This setup captures both voices from one audio input (your mic) and may reduce Transcript accuracy. For best results, run your telehealth meeting in a web browser and use the high-quality recording option instead.

Chrome, Edge, and Opera are compatible with Blueprint. Other browsers (like Safari or Firefox) may have limited functionality and will likely lead to technical issues or fail completely.
I want to use headphones during my telehealth session, what do I need to know?
I want to use headphones during my telehealth session, what do I need to know?
If you'd like to use headphones during your session, you must run your telehealth meeting in your web browser not a separate desktop app.
Does it matter if I use the desktop app instead of my browser?
Does it matter if I use the desktop app instead of my browser?
Yes. On a Mac, running your telehealth meeting in a web browser lets Blueprint capture your client’s audio directly from the telehealth meeting resulting in better Progress Notes. On the other hand, running your telehealth meeting in it's own desktop app limits audio quality and prevents you from being able to use headphones during your meeting.
