What the "Blueprint for Therapists" Mobile App Does
The mobile app is a great option for:
Recording sessions, especially in person
Dictating session summaries
Minimal, low-distraction on-the-go setup
Capturing audio without an open computer in the room
The mobile app is not designed for:
Recording telehealth sessions that are running on the same device
Reviewing or editing Progress Notes
Browsing client or session history
Managing Magic Edits and Memory
Uploading audio files
Billing or usage management
While the mobile app is a great option to have, the Blueprint website (www.blueprint.ai) is a complete workspace for recording, reviewing notes, editing, uploading, or managing anything beyond the recording.
How to Download the "Blueprint for Therapists" Mobile App
Download the Blueprint for Therapists mobile app here or by searching "Blueprint for Therapists" in the iOS App Store. (Be sure to select "Blueprint for Therapists" -- the "Blueprint for Clients" app is for client use only.
The app is currently available for iOS only. Android users can still use Blueprint on their mobile devices using their mobile web browser. If you'd like to be notified when an Android app is released, feel free to vote on this feature request.
How to Record a Session Using the Mobile App
Login to the Blueprint for Therapists mobile app. The recording page will open by default.
Select or add a new client in the drop-down near the top of the page
Click the blue microphone button near the bottom of the screen and select the appropriate option:
In-person Session
Telehealth Session
Dictate Summary
Your mobile device is now acting as your microphone. Place your mobile device appropriately:
If you're recording an in-person session, place your mobile device between you and your client so the microphone can pick up your conversation clearly.
If you're recording a telehealth session, remember that you'll need to run your telehealth meeting on a separate device (like your tablet or computer) since mobile devices cannot record and run meetings at the same time. Place your mobile device between you and your second device (where your telehealth session is running.)
If you're going to dictate a summary of a past session, just keep your device close so you can speak into it as if you were having a call on speakerphone.
Your device may prompt you to give Blueprint access to your microphone. Click Allow.
As you begin your session, make sure that the audio indicator is lighting up with green bars when you speak and when your client speaks. If the audio indicator isn't lighting up, either move your device closer to you and your client (or your second device) and check your phone's microphone settings to ensure microphone access has been given.
Now you can continue on with your session as normal! At this point, you can lock your phone screen so that the Blueprint app isn't visible. That said, we recommend keeping your screen on, with Blueprint visible, so that you can see any warnings that may appear in the event that Blueprint loses access to your microphone.
When your session has ended, click the red button to end the recording.
Select your the Session Type, Note Type, and Treatment Approach (these can be changed after the Progress Note generates if needed) then click Generate Note
That's it! 🎉 Your Progress Note will now generate and you're free to either record another session (click the "Start another session" button) or view the Progress Note (click the "See my note" button.)
Best Practices While Using the Blueprint for Therapists Mobile App
Place your phone equal distance between you and your client
Avoid covering the microphone
While the app allows you to lock your screen while recording, we recommend keeping your phone unlocked and the screen on so you can see any microphone or recording warnings.
Recording Telehealth Sessions with the Blueprint for Therapists Mobile App
Due to mobile device limitations, you cannot run your telehealth meeting and record it on the same mobile device.
So, if you'd like to use your mobile device to record your telehealth session then you'll need to run your telehealth meeting on a separate device such as a computer or another mobile device.
In summary, to record telehealth sessions via the Blueprint for Therapists mobile app:
Run Blueprint on your mobile device (like your phone)
Run your telehealth meeting on a separate device (like your iPad or computer)
Place your mobile device between you and your second device
Do not use headphones. The mobile app records sound through your phone’s microphone, so your client’s voice must be audible in the room. If you'd like to use headphones during your telehealth session, you must record from a computer instead of the mobile app.
Audio quality in this setup depends on room acoustics and phone placement, so it may take a few tries to find what works best in your space.

FAQ
I just recorded a session using the mobile app, where is my Progress Note?
I just recorded a session using the mobile app, where is my Progress Note?
All Progress Notes are stored on the client's profile in their "Sessions" tab, regardless of if they were recorded via the mobile app, the Blueprint website on a mobile web browser, or the Blueprint website on a computer.
Though recording is possible on the mobile app, Progress Notes can only be accessed via the Blueprint website.
Right after ending a recording in the mobile app, click the "See my note" button to have it open in your mobile web browser right away or open the side menu and tap "Recent Sessions" to open your Sessions Dashboard and quickly open any of recent Progress Notes.
Can I lock my phone screen while recording with the mobile app?
Can I lock my phone screen while recording with the mobile app?
Yes, you can lock your phone while recording (screen off, phone still on). However, because phones are sensitive to interruptions (like emails, phone calls, and notifications from other apps), we recommend keeping your screen unlocked when possible. This makes it to spot microphone or recording warnings and helps prevent unexpected interruptions.
Can I pause a recording when using the mobile app?
Can I pause a recording when using the mobile app?
Yes, you can pause a recording at any time using the Pause button, then tap Resume to continue.
Keep in mind that you cannot pause a recording on one device and resume it on another. If you need to switch devices, end the initial recording from the first device then start a new recording on the second device.
How do I check that microphone access is allowed?
How do I check that microphone access is allowed?
If the mobile app isn’t picking up audio, it’s a good idea to confirm that microphone access is enabled in your phone’s settings.
On an any iOS device (iPhone or iPad):
Open your device Settings
Scroll down and tap Privacy & Security
Scroll down to tap Microphone
Tap Blueprint for Therapists
Make sure Microphone is toggled on
If microphone access was previously denied, turning this on should allow the app to record audio again.
Can I use the mobile app for telehealth sessions?
Can I use the mobile app for telehealth sessions?
The mobile app is not designed to run telehealth sessions.
Mobile devices (phones and tablets) have more limitations than computers. Because of this, it's not possible to run a telehealth session and record it at the same time on the same device.
If you have another device available, then you can use Blueprint on one device to record while running your telehealth meeting on the other device. Just make sure not to use headphones so the first device can pickup the sound (your client's voice) coming from the second device.
When using Blueprint on computer however, you can record and run your telehealth meeting all on the same device. This includes third-party telehealth programs (like Zoom, Doxy, SimplePractice) as well as Blueprint's built-in telehealth program.
Why can't I access my Treatment Plans, Assessments, or other pages in the mobile app?

For reviewing, editing, uploading, or managing anything beyond recording, the Blueprint website is the right place to work. You can still access the Blueprint website on a mobile device -- just login at blueprint.ai on your mobile web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Opera.)
