When recording your telehealth meeting, you’ll be presented with two options for capturing your client’s voice: High-Quality Audio and Reduced-Quality Audio. Here’s what each means, and why we strongly recommend the high-quality option whenever possible.
✅ High-Quality Audio (Recommended)
With this option, your client’s voice is shared directly from your telehealth window to Blueprint.
Separate audio channels: Your client’s voice exists on one audio channel (your telehealth meeting) while your voice is on another (your microphone).
Clear distinction: Because the channels are separate, Blueprint doesn’t have to guess who’s speaking. This leads to more accurate transcripts and, in turn, better Progress Notes.
Quick setup: When you choose this option, your browser will display a small pop-up asking you to confirm what you’d like to share with Blueprint (often listed as “clinician.blueprint.ai”). Approving it only takes a couple of clicks.
⚠️ Reduced-Quality Audio
If you can’t use direct sharing, Blueprint will capture your client’s voice indirectly: by using your microphone to pick up their voice as it plays through your computer’s speakers.
One channel, two voices: Both you and your client’s voices are mixed together on the same audio channel, which makes it harder for Blueprint to separate speakers.
Echo cancellation issues: Most microphones include an automatic echo cancellation feature. While great for meetings, it often mistakes your client’s voice for an “echo” and tries to block it from being recorded.
Impact on Transcripts: This can cause your client’s voice to sound faint, choppy, or even drop out entirely, resulting in less accurate transcripts and lower-quality Progress Notes.
Because of these limitations, reduced-quality audio should only be used as a last resort.
💡 When High-Quality Isn’t Possible
The only time you won’t be able to use high-quality audio is if you’re on a Mac computer and running a telehealth program that’s installed directly on your computer (instead of in a web browser).
Most telehealth platforms also offer an in-browser version (even Zoom!), and in those cases, you’ll still be able to use the high-quality option with Blueprint.
