We make it easy to bring your existing client data into Blueprint through a secure and structured import process. During the import, client demographic information and any clinical documentation associated with each client profile can be seamlessly carried over into Blueprint, helping you get set up quickly without losing important historical records.
All EHR imports are:
Encrypted and HIPAA-compliant
Processed only by trained staff
Deleted after migration is complete
đ How to Start an Import
To begin your import:
Go to Settings
Select EHR Import (located under âMy Accountâ in the left sidebar)
Choose your current EHR
Follow the prompts and upload your export file (typically a .zip file)
đ Supported EHRs
You can currently import data from:
SimplePractice
TheraNest
TherapyNotes
If your EHR is not listed, rest assured that weâre actively working on adding additional import options in the future!
đ EHR-Specific Instructions
SimplePractice
Important: When exporting from SimplePractice, you must select âCompleteâ export.
This ensures your export includes:
Client contact information
Documentation and clinical data
Exports using âSessionsâ or âContactsâ only will be missing key information.
Follow SimplePracticeâs export instructions here:
Once exported, upload the resulting .zip file in Blueprint.
TheraNest
To import from TheraNest:
Enter your TheraNest login credentials during the import process
These credentials are used securely and deleted once the import is complete
TherapyNotes
To import from TherapyNotes:
Enter your TherapyNotes login credentials during setup
These credentials are securely removed after import completion
Itâs recommended to log out of TherapyNotes during the import, as remaining logged in may cause pauses or interruptions
âł Upload Limits & Timing
Maximum upload size: 10 GB per zip file
If needed, large exports may be split into multiple files
Imports are typically quite fast, but some can take 24â48 hours
Larger datasets may take longer
â ď¸ Important Notes
TheraNest and TherapyNotes imports can only run one export at a time
This is intentional to prevent system overload
Overnight processing may be required
During import, clinicians may be temporarily logged out of their non-Blueprint EHR account
After upload, youâll review a client matching screen:
On this screen, youâll match clients from your previous EHR to their corresponding profiles in Blueprint.
You may also see an option to import client contacts as separate clients. To ensure your documentation is correctly linked, we recommend not importing contacts as clients, as this can result in records being associated with the incorrect client chart.
Contacts can be added manually to the client profiles later
If you run into any issues during the import process, our support team is happy to help!
