Sometimes a client may end up with two separate profiles in Blueprint. For example, if they were added manually in Blueprint and also imported from an EHR, or if a typo led to a second record.
This guide shows you how to combine two duplicate client profiles into a single profile in Blueprint, specifically if your organization uses an EHR and has a custom integration setup with Blueprint.
đĄ If your organization does not have an EHR integration setup with Blueprint, use this guide instead: How to merge duplicate client profiles
Before we begin
Admin access required, and Admins can also enable this feature for Clinicians.
Both clients must belong to the same clinic.
Merging client profiles is permanent and cannot be undone.
Merging client profiles in Blueprint does not automatically sync changes back to your EHR.
Good to know
There are a few extra things to know about merging client profiles within Blueprint when your organization has an external EHR integration.
The EHR-linked client profile is always set as the "primary" profile.
This is fixed and cannot be changed -- it protects the external EHR connection.
Client profiles must have the idendtical MRNs in order to be merged.
If the MRN fields on each profile do not match exactly, Blueprint will block the merge entirely.
Changes made in Blueprint are not synced back to your external EHR.
After merging within Blueprint, you may want to manually reconcile records in your EHR, particularly for appointments and medications.
How to merge two client profiles
The merge process follows a guided 3-step workflow.
Step 1: Open one of the client profiles
Navigate to one of the client profiles you'd like to merge
Click the Actions drop-down and select Merge client
In the search box, find and select the duplicate profile (or paste the URL to that profile!), then click Next
Step 2: Review the profiles side-by-side
Review both client profiles side by side. Youâll see details such as date of birth, email, phone number, MRN, and creation date.
Blueprint will automatically assign the EHR-linked client as "primary" profile. Role assignment is fixed and cannot be changed when one client is EHR-linked.

Step 3: Review and confirm
Review the summary:
Records being moved -- Sessions, assessments, worksheets, treatment plans, and discharge summaries will be transferred from the secondary to the primary profile.
Conflicts -- If both clients have different values for the same field (e.g., different email addresses or dates of birth), the values of the primary profile will be kept and the secondaryâs values will be discarded.
Check the box to confirm you understand the merge is permanent, then click Confirm merge
Expected outcome
Once the merge is complete:
You will be redirected to the primary clientâs profile.
A âClients mergedâ confirmation message will appear.
