Written by Aminda Villamagna

With options ranging from keeping transcripts indefinitely to deleting them as soon as a note is generated, be able to match your organization's compliance policy.

This guide explains:

  • How to customize how long Blueprint stores session transcripts

  • Which permissions are required to adjust the settings

  • Which features depend on transcripts

Before we begin

  • Transcript retention settings may not be available for your organization
This feature will roll out more broadly in the coming weeks.

  • Org admin access required
Transcript retention settings are only accessible for those with the Org admin role.

  • Transcript deletion is permanent
Once a transcript is deleted, it cannot be recovered undone.

  • This setting is organization-wide

It's applied to all users within your Blueprint organization.

  • This setting applies retroactively
Turning it on immediately deletes every existing transcript for every clinician at your org that's older than your selected period -- not just transcripts that age past the threshold going forward.

  • Some features depend on transcripts
Magic Edit, Treatment Plan regeneration, and other features that rely on a transcript will be unavailable for any session whose transcript has been deleted.

How to configure transcript retention settings

  1. On your Settings > Progress Notes page and scroll to the Transcript retention period section

  2. Choose a Retention Period:

    • Keep indefinitely (default)
Transcripts are retained until manually deleted.

    • Keep for 1 year, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, 1 week, or 1 day
Transcripts older than the selected window are deleted on a daily schedule.

    • Delete immediately
Transcripts are deleted as soon as the AI note is generated.

  3. Confirm your selection. If this is your first time enabling a retention period, you'll see a confirmation prompt before the setting takes effect.
