Claim status can be automatically updated to denied upon receiving a denial ERA in Blueprint, or manually if you receive a denial outside of Blueprint. See the instructions for manually marking a claim as denied at the bottom of the page.
When an ERA contains a denied service, Blueprint will automatically mark the claim as denied in the client's billing profile and in the Insurance Claims tab.
Click the denied claim to open it and view the details.
Here are the reasons the claim was denied. When you're ready to resubmit the claim, select "Start Resubmission." This will open a new draft of the claim.
In the example image below, you see the original denied claim (#0X8A33EUOR) and the new draft claim (#LFOF94EW4l)
Select the draft claim to open it, make any necessary changes to the draft claim, and submit. Once you've resubmitted the claim, the client's billing profile will appear as shown in the image below.
The original claim's ID number will be included, and the resubmitted claim will be sent as a replacement.
Once you receive the corrected ERA, you will post it to the resubmitted claim.
Update Claim Status to Denied Manually
If you receive a denial outside of Blueprint, such as in the mail or through a payer portal, you can change the claim status to denied so you can resubmit the claim.
From the Dashboard, go to Billing > Claims > Select the claim. Inside the claim details, click on More > Denied.
Enter a brief reason for denial > then select Mark as Denied
From here, proceed with the direction on resubmitting a claim above.
