Binge Eating Scale (BES)
Updated over 4 months ago

Brief Description

The Binge Eating Scale (BES) is a 16 item, self-report questionnaire designed to assess the severity of binge eating behavior, which is a core feature of Binge Eating Disorder (BED). Developed by Gormally et al. (1982), the items on the scale assess behavioral, cognitive, and emotional manifestations of binge eating. Respondents rate their experiences on a scale, with higher scores indicating more severe binge eating behavior. The BES is widely used in both clinical and research settings to identify individuals with problematic eating patterns and to monitor changes in eating behavior over time.
