Blueprint is designed for seamless copy-and-paste integration into your EHR, rather than direct printing. However, we understand that there are times when you may need a physical or PDF copy of a Progress Note, Assessment, or Worksheet for documentation purposes.
While printing is not yet a built-in feature of Blueprint, this guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you print or save client records as PDFs when needed.
Below, you’ll find simple workflows for doing so. Let’s get started!
How to Print a Client's Completed Assessment
Navigate to the client's profile
Click the Assessments tab
Within the Progress graph, click View Results
Indicate which Assessment you'd like to print using the Assessment and Date drop-downs
Right-click anywhere within the Assessment Results window and select Print
Set the Destination to your preferred printer. If you'd like to save the results as a PDF instead, select Save as a PDF
Customize any print options you'd like, such as removing the header, footer, and graphics to save ink, then click Print (or Save, if you've decided to Save as PDF)
How to Print a Client's Completed Worksheet
Navigate to the client's profile
Click the Worksheets tab
Within the Completed section, select the Worksheet submission you'd like to print
Right-click anywhere within the Assessment Results window and select Print
To ensure the entire Worksheet submission is printed, we recommend that you highlight the actual text (you can highlight date and time, too, if you'd like!), then right-click and select Print
Set the Destination to your preferred printer. If you'd like to save the results as a PDF instead, select Save as a PDF as we do in the example below
Customize any print options you'd like, such as removing the header, footer, and graphics, then click Print (or Save, if you've decided to Save as PDF)
How to Print a Progress Note from a Past Session
Open Blueprint and your preferred text editor side-by-side.
💡 In the example below we're using Mac's built-in text editor called "Text Edit", but you can use any software you'd like. We don't recommend using cloud-based such as OneDrive or Google Docs, since the Progress Note may contain PHI.Within Blueprint, navigate to the client's profile, you should automatically land in the Sessions tab
Click the Session you'd like to print the Progress Note for
Starting with the first section of the Progress Note, click the Copy button
Go to the text editor and type the name of the section then right-click and select Paste
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each section of the Note, going back-and-forth between Blueprint and your text editor
Once the entire Note has been pasted into your text editor, make sure you're actively in the text editor window before clicking File in the upper-left, then select Print
Set the Destination to your preferred printer. If you'd like to save the results as a PDF instead, select Save as a PDF
Customize any print options you'd like, such as removing the header, footer, and graphics, then click Print (or Save, if you've decided to Save as PDF)
FAQ
I'd really like a built-in print option... will Blueprint ever add one?
I'd really like a built-in print option... will Blueprint ever add one?
Because Blueprint is designed for copying and pasting into your EHR, a built-in print function is not currently on our product roadmap.
However, we’re always listening to user feedback! If a native printing feature would improve your workflow, we encourage you to add your vote and share your use case on our Feature Request Board. Here's a direct link to this specific request: Feature Request: Add a Print Option
Your input is extremely valuable to us as it helps us prioritize new features and product improvements based on real user needs!
